Girls, Shopping & Cowboys

Elizabeth is here! :D

Monday morning, I was off picking up a crazy redhead from the airport. If you were there and our screaming  hurt your ears in the echoing cavern of baggage claim, we apologize, but we were just so excited to see each other the squee was uncontainable.

Since Jazz was trapped at work (poor baby), Elizabeth and I went shopping. We hit my fave mall first because there are loads of great shops and a huge food court. When it comes to clothes, she enjoys having a live doll to dress up and I enjoy the attention ;) My apologies to the cute boy in A&F who may now be having “curious” thoughts. Totally meant to wear a shirt when I came out to show Elizabeth how that super adorable skirt fit me. Whoopsies!

We weren’t really interested in actually buying anything — couldn’t afford to anyway — but we do our best talking while amongst clothes racks and pretty things. And since she was all mine for the day, we shopped.

Then, oh then, we found shoes. Not just any shoes, though… I found cowboy boots. My size, smexy as all get out, with a little heel that just makes me strut… Yeehaw!

But hold on now, pardners. Jazz and Elizabeth have never met face-to-face, so when he got home Monday night I couldn’t just lasso him and show him my new duds. No, first there had to be the OMG cutest ever Hallmark moment of intros between my best friend and my husband.

It went exactly as I orchestrated it :)

Freshly primped, she waited by the backdoor as he drove down into the garage. Then there he was in his suit pants, shirt sleeves rolled up his forearms, tie loose, and Elizabeth made a gurgling noise I could totally understand. He trots up and opens the door, all smiles, swoops in and picks her up for a kitchen twirl. She squealed like a little pink piglet, red hair swinging around, hugging the stuffing out of him. I just stood there clutching my kleenex and holding down the shutter button on the camera so I didn’t miss anything.

After that, we went over to have dinner with Grams and Dad. Elizabeth didn’t have the best home life growing up, so she got adopted right on into mine — we’ve known each other since we were 8. Since my dad came home last year while Elizabeth was at school, this was the first time she’d gotten to see him in like 6 years. More tissues and photos and squeeing. Dad says she turned into the prettiest little lady and Grams made sure Elizabeth had condoms since responsible women keep them in their purses nowadays. {sigh} That’s my gramma.

Anyway, we all spent like half the night talking, reminiscing, and hashing out the rest of the week. Then Elizabeth stayed the night there in my old room. She’s actually staying with some of our high school friends in their apartment, but was too tired to do yet another reunion and hours more talking. My dad dropped her off over there yesterday, and then all of us got together for lunch — and more shopping!

Tuesday morning, though, Jazz was late to work. He liked my cowboy boots and I got to wear the stetson too ;)

Glad you guys had so much fun, Thorny. I hate shopping, but its always seems more fun when I don’t have any money to actually buy anything. Then its just playtime. :) I hope you get to hang out with Elizabeth more before she goes back.

Sounds like y’all are having lots of fun. I’m happy for you and Elizabeth because I can only imagine how much you’ve missed each other.

Well, you have the cowboy boots and hat. Next, I think you should buy some chaps. I think Jazz would really appreciate that. Brings a whole new meaning to the term ride’em cowboy…hehehe. ;)

Thanks for the video, too. Brings back lots of good memories. My friend and I used to have huge crushes on Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora…sigh. :)

Hope you have a great week!

So glad you and Elizabeth got time together, and found you could pick up and enjoy each other’s company. And then bringing Elizabeth and Jazz together – so sweet when people you love like each other. I hope you have a wonderful week together, and I love your Grams. Family is who you choose to make it, and Elizabeth is clearly part of yours.

I hope that boy in A&F finds someone nice to explore his expanded horizons with too.

    What to focus on?

Mainly, I’m thrilled that someone who was so important to you is back in your life, and that you had such a good reunion, and that she got to meet the someone who is so very important to you now.

    What else?

I love your Dad and Grams – and in the case of the latter, I’m torn between really wanting to meet her, and er…wondering if I’d do anything but blush and yes ma’am and no ma’am. :)

Finally, as in any good story, I love that our heroes had a sexy ‘fade to black.’ Though I may have missed something; did you buy the skirt as well? Because cowboy boots *and* a mini-skirt is a whole ‘nother ball game (yes, I said ball). I’m asking this purely as an academic question, mind you. (Was Jazz wearing the cowboy hat? Is he a hat person to begin with?)

What a great start to your ‘summer’ vacation!!
