I Jinxed Summer

I was emailing with a friend and happened to mention that, while I’m not looking forward to school starting, I am looking forward to Fall finally getting here. We’ve had some really hot days lately, but it’s the humidity that just kills me. Can’t do a thing with my hair, don’t want to run outside at all, and we’re boxed up in the air conditioning all the time.

Well, I think I totally jinxed summer because it went down to 56° F last night and isn’t supposed to be more than 70° F today with a mix of rain and thunderstorms all day.

It’s not exactly terrible that the weather’s like this. It has a lot of upsides, like being able to open windows and get fresh air. I’m especially happy with lots of blankets on the bed and getting power-snuggled by the bear who shares that bed with me. I think, even in sleep, he can sense when I’m cold and responds by tucking me underneath him from nose to knees. (That’s how I woke up this morning ;) ) Watching TV on the couch last night was nice too, even though I was the one on top and had the fleece blankets.

These things are why I like Fall so much anyway, so I’m not complaining. It’s just really weird how the weather switches around so fast sometimes. I’m betting we’ll be back in the 90s by this time next week, so I’m going to soak this up while it lasts.

I am loving the NEO weather that rolled in on Friday. We’ve got the a/c off and the windows open! If it stayed just like this the next couple of months, I’d be a happy gal. We moved to Cleveland from DC in 2005 and I always say that I’ll take a Cleveland winter over a DC summer in a heartbeat. ;-)

If we can have more days like today feel free to jinx away Thorny! It was a gorgeous day :)

Jinxed is not the word! Word up yo! I live in a four story townhouse with no AC or central air and I think I’ve bought out all the fans avail at our local Zellers :snickering: I need a serious break in this heat/humidity. Even a good rain fall which seems to be rare doesn’t give any kinda relief!

Same weather pattern here, but it arrived a bit earlier since I’m farther west. I have no bear, though, only dogs (the four-legged variety, which suits me just fine; I’ve had my fill of two-legged dogs).

That’s Ohio weather for sure! It was such an odd dip but I’m sure it will warm up again next week. Fall and Spring are my favorite times of the year for the weather –not too hot, but not too cool either.

*snicker* You asked for it. ;-p

But please don’t jinx my ‘hood too. I need all the summer I can get. Viva la Summer! :-D

Fall is my favorite season. So totally agree on the snuggling thing!

Oh, I’m so jealous. That is my favorite kind of weather. I am looking forward to fall for the same reasons! Enjoy it while you have it.

Today was one of the hottest days we’ve had this summer. The temperature – 19C/66F. The idea of you wrapping yourself in blankets ( or bears :) ) when here we were stripping off at the beach, made me smile. Ah…Scotland in the summertime♡

    • Thorny says:

Maybe all those kilts have something to do with everyone being too warm over there in Scotland, Alder. I mean, they do heat me up just looking at them…

      • Alder says:

Well, Mr Thighs of Steel, I bet you’d look good in a kilt :D
And remember it’s traditional to wear nothing under the kilt…is Jazz feeling warm now? ;)

Have you considered, perhaps, that all of the ‘hot cowboy’ goings on in your neck of the woods blew out summer? And yes, I used a variation of the word ‘blow.’

With how cold my room-mates keep our apartment, I sometimes feel like it’s already winter in our household. XD I use a little space heater most days just to get temporary bursts of warmth. Or snuggle up with one of the cats. They tend to be little heaters all on their own. They get rather upset whenever I have to shift positions, though. Pluses and minuses. *chuckles* Enjoy the cool while you can!

  12. Kris says:

I love the fall so I’m looking forward to it too…even though I don’t have my own power-snuggler at the moment. :)

I’m so jealous. We are having a record breaking summer. My water and electric bills rival the national debt. I’d kill for a couple of days of rain and cold.

  14. Tam says:

    Ha! So you’re to blame!

Not that I’m really complaining. 40C is too hot here and I don’t have central a/c. We also desperately needed this rain although the farmers say it’s too late to save some of the crops. I’m kind of enjoying the cool as well. Although I dislike fall because that means winter is close and I detest winter with a passion.

    • Thorny says:

I would just totally expire without central air, Tam. {pats you} I am, uh, looking forward to winter, though :)

    • LC Chase says:

“Although I dislike fall because that means winter is close and I detest winter with a passion.”

I’m with you 110%, Tam! I’ll take 40C any day (well, provided that’s dry heat) over cold wet winters in a heartbeat.
